Cheyenne Fisher, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (VA - 0810007773, PA-PS019529)

In my youth, I knew I wanted to be a psychologist. As such, I find great meaning in the work I do and consider it a calling. Specifically, I find walking alongside others through their journey toward health to be most rewarding. My approach to treatment is client-centered and collaborative, as I believe it is most beneficial for the client to take the lead in their own journey. Therefore, treatment is tailored to each client’s individual needs. For testing and individual therapy, I see individuals 18+ and specialize in the assessment and long-term treatment of personality disorders. I especially enjoy working with schizoid and borderline personality structures.

Education and Experience: I received my Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Regent University and my B.S. in Clinical Psychology from Liberty University. My clinical experience includes conducting therapy and assessment in a variety of settings such as private practice, community health center, day hospital, and inpatient units. I have worked with a variety of diagnoses and presenting problems, including mood disorders, personality disorders, AD/HD, psychosis, and relationship concerns. I absolutely love the opportunity to explore, investigate, and piece together an understandable picture of what is going on diagnostically for a client in a way that assists them in furthering their journey toward health.

Lastly, I also have my Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT #11004), granted by the PSYPACT Commission on 04/14/2022, which allows me to treat patients in PSYPACT participating states.*

*PSYPACT is an interstate compact which offers a voluntary expedited pathway to qualified psychologists who wish to practice in multiple states. PSYPACT is designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology and the temporary in-person, face-to-face practice of psychology across state boundaries. In order to practice telepsychology in PSYPACT states, psychologists licensed in PSYPACT states only, can apply to the PSYPACT Commission for an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT). The PSYPACT Commission is the governing body of PSYPACT and is comprised of one representative from each PSYPACT state. More information regarding PSYPACT and its requirements can be found at www.psypact.org.

Clinical Orientation: My clinical orientation is a psychodynamic approach. I believe long term change stems from understanding and processing how one’s past is currently influencing one’s present. This includes a focus on using self-reflection and self-examination to explore and change the psychological root of emotional distress. I strongly believe that the relationship between therapist and client can be used as a corrective experience to help identify and challenge maladaptive patterns to elicit a decrease in symptoms. Therapy is individually tailored to each client’s presenting concern. Thus, I may use techniques from other modalities to specifically focus on clients’ needs. At each client’s discretion, I find the integration of culture and spirituality into the therapy process to be enjoyable and helpful in the journey toward health.
